Day 1: Arusha – Tarangire National Park
After breakfast, your family will depart from Arusha with a friendly professional safari guide and drive towards Tarangire National Park, a journey of approximately two hours. Upon arrival, you will enjoy an exciting game drive through landscapes dotted with ancient baobab trees and wide open savannahs. Tarangire is famous for its large elephant herds, as well as giraffes, zebras, wildebeest and playful warthogs, which children especially love to watch. After a picnic lunch inside the park, the safari continues before heading to your family-friendly lodge for dinner, relaxation and an overnight stay.
Day 2: Tarangire – Lake Manyara National Park
Following breakfast, the safari continues towards Lake Manyara National Park, a compact and scenic park ideal for families. Game drives take you through lush groundwater forests, open grasslands and the lakeshore, where flamingos and other water birds create colourful displays. Children will enjoy spotting monkeys swinging through the trees, while adults admire elephants, buffaloes and the park’s famous tree-climbing lions. The shorter game drives and varied scenery make this park perfect for younger travellers. After lunch and an afternoon game drive, you will proceed to your lodge, where the family can relax and share stories of the day’s wildlife encounters.
Day 3: Lake Manyara – Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast, you will drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, home to the world-renowned Ngorongoro Crater. Descending into the crater is a thrilling experience for the whole family, as wildlife surrounds you almost immediately. The crater floor hosts lions, elephants, rhinos, zebras, hippos and large herds of wildebeest, offering excellent wildlife viewing in a single location. The enclosed environment makes it easier for children to spot animals and stay engaged throughout the game drive. After a picnic lunch inside the crater, you will ascend to your lodge on the crater rim for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Ngorongoro – Arusha
On the final morning, your family will enjoy breakfast with stunning views of the Ngorongoro highlands before beginning the drive back to Arusha. Along the way, there may be an optional visit to a local village or craft market, allowing children to learn about Tanzanian culture and traditions in an interactive and educational way. The journey back is relaxed, giving everyone time to reflect on the incredible wildlife sightings and shared family moments. Upon arrival in Arusha, the safari concludes with drop-off at your hotel or airport, marking the end of a memorable and family-friendly Tanzanian adventure.
