Welcome. Here is who we are.

Nora is one of the first women safari guides in Tanzania, with 10 years and 300+ safaris behind the wheel. She founded Savanna Soul Safaris in 2025.

We plan tailored northern-circuit trips: Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, Tarangire, Lake Manyara. A woman guide leads every one of them.

Why Savanna Soul

Why travel with women guides

She knows these parks

Nora has guided the Serengeti and the crater for 10 years and 300+ safaris. Licensed, first-aid trained, at the wheel of her own 4x4. You are in expert hands from the airport to the last game drive.

Planned around you, not a schedule

A private vehicle, a route built for your dates and your group, and a guide who reads the day: an earlier start for a crossing, a longer stop when the children need one.

Changing who guides Tanzania

Nora is one of the country's first women safari guides, and Savanna Soul trains the next. Every trip you book puts another woman at the wheel.

“We had a 4-day safari with Nora as our guide and we couldn't have it any better. We did the Tarangire, Ngorongoro, Ndutu, Serengeti tour and it was perfect. We saw all the animals, including a leopard and a serval cat, and of course 10000000 wildebeasts and zebra's due to the great migration. … When we asked to experience a bit more of the local culture, she took us to a village to have a local authentic meal.”

“Norah is an exceptional guide. She was one of the main highlights of a truly amazing trip. … She provided a safe, educational, exciting adventure. … I visited my 100th country with her and can truly say that she made it one of the best trips I have EVER experienced.”

“We had the most wonderfull safari with Norah. The best guide ever. Warm heartet, authentic, one hell of a ranger and driver and an inspiring role model for everybody, especially women in Tanzania.”

“Her knowledge of the bush and wildlife was nothing short of astonishing. Norah could spot animals from extraordinary distances. … If there is one guide I would trust to design and lead a safari itinerary in Tanzania from start to finish, it would absolutely be her.”

A note from Nora

“I wanted to build the company I wished existed when I started: one where a woman at the wheel is the normal thing.”

Nora is one of the first women to qualify as a safari guide in Tanzania. She founded Savanna Soul Safaris in 2025 after years guiding for other operators, and still leads trips herself.

Giving back

Every safari helps train the next woman guide

Women guides are still rare in Tanzania. Savanna Soul trains and mentors women into the job, and the trips we run help pay for that.

How giving back works

The Great Migration

The Mara River, from Nora's vehicle

More than a million wildebeest, with zebra alongside, circle the Serengeti every year. At the river they gather on the bank, wait, and then go all at once.

Nora plans a migration trip around where the herds are that month and keeps you within reach of them for several days. Nobody can promise you a crossing. Days in the right place are what give you the chance of one.

Questions

Things people ask first

All questions
How far in advance should I book?

Six to nine months for migration season (July to October) and Christmas, because the best camps fill first. Three months is usually fine for the rest of the year. Last-minute trips are possible; ask and we will tell you what is open.

What does travelling with a woman guide actually change?

The pace and the small decisions. Where comfort stops happen, how camps are briefed about you, how children are kept busy, how a solo traveller is met at the airport. Our guides are licensed and first-aid trained, and they notice the things that make a long day easy.

What is included in the price?

Park and conservation fees, a private 4x4 with a pop-up roof, your guide, all accommodation and meals on safari, airport transfers, drinking water and government taxes. International flights, visas, travel insurance, tips and optional activities such as ballooning are not included.

Do I need vaccinations or malaria tablets?

Yellow fever is required only if you arrive from a country with a risk of transmission. Malaria prevention is recommended for all of Tanzania. Speak to a travel clinic six weeks before you fly; we send a health note with every itinerary.
