Every Savanna Soul Safaris trip is led by a woman guide, and every trip is open to everyone. This page is for the women who want to know what that changes before they book: who meets you at the airport, how the days are paced, where the vehicle stops, and what the camps are told before you arrive.
What changes in practice
Four things, and they are the four we do for every guest. The pace of the day is yours, so a long morning drive can end at eleven and start again at four. Comfort stops are planned rather than improvised, at a lodge, a picnic site or a ranger post. Camps are briefed before you arrive: how many of you, which rooms, what time you want to eat. And you are met at Kilimanjaro airport by your guide, by name, rather than by a stranger with a clipboard.
On your own or with friends
A woman travelling alone here spends her days with her guide and her nights in staffed camps, and the vehicle is private by default. Single travellers pay a supplement for a private room at most lodges, and we quote the exact figure as its own line rather than folding it into a total. Four to six friends share one vehicle, which brings the cost per person down.
How we plan solo and small-group tripsMothers and daughters
One of the trips we are asked for most is a mother and a daughter, sometimes with a grandmother in the third seat. A private vehicle is what makes it work: one of you can be out at first light while the other has a slow breakfast, and the guide plans the day around both answers. Lodges give you a family room or two rooms side by side, whichever you ask for.
How we pace a family tripA women-only departure on request
If you would rather the whole crew were women, we can arrange it: guide, driver and, where the camp can staff it, the camp team too. It is a request rather than a scheduled departure, so tell us early and we will confirm what is possible for your dates. Every other trip we run is mixed and open to everyone.

How safe is Tanzania for a woman on her own?
Safe, with a licensed operator and a plan. You are with your guide from the arrivals hall to the departure gate, camps and lodges are staffed through the night, and the vehicle is yours alone on every tailored trip; the one group departure is the only shared vehicle we run, and it is shared only if you ask for it. In Arusha and Stone Town the sensible rules are the ones you would use in any city: a booked taxi after dark, a bag you can see. We brief you on the few local specifics rather than handing you a list of warnings.
Can I ask for a woman guide?
You do not have to ask. Every Savanna Soul safari is led by a woman guide as standard. If you would like a particular guide, or you would rather we made a different arrangement, say so in the inquiry and we will sort it out before you pay anything.
Is this only for women?
No. Every trip we run is open to everyone, and most of our travellers are couples and families. This page is here for the women who want to know what changes when a woman plans and guides the trip.
Can we have an all-women crew?
Yes, on request. Your guide is a woman on every trip; on this one the driver and, where the camp can staff it, the camp team are too. Ask when you inquire and we will tell you what your dates allow.
